About Paul John Ballard
Paul John Ballard’s work can be seen in bars and restaurants around the world as well as hanging in the home of a certain England international footballer as he completed commissions for some Premiership professional footballers and England international footballers.
Already in school he was prized as the best artist expecting him to pursue a career in art. But he decided to join the army and then spend 12 years in engineering. Meanwhile Ballard never lost his interest in drawing and painting, and built up an impressive portfolio.
At Elstree Film studios he worked on backdrops for the Glyndebourne Opera House and the Royal Opera House giving him the confidence to approach art galleries throughout Hampstead and the West End of London to arrange exhibitions of his work.
He also completed murals for clubs, hotels, restaurants and pubs in the UK and the USA, including Wetherspoons chain where I was commissioned to paint large murals on the walls of their Public Houses across London. In his erotic artwork, his chosen media are pencil, acrylic, watercolors and oils. High contrast and sharp detail are the two elements that form the basis of his art. He chooses create movement and flow, which allows the viewer to feel the strength and energy of the figure.
